Feb. 15th, 2008 04:49 pmYay! I finally sorted out my trip to London next month. Originally going over Easter weekend was going to cost me about £40 but some judicious poking of the trainline site and extending the trip by a few days to go see A means my ticket costs roll in at just over £20. Which sounds lovely until you realise that extra £20 and a lot more besides will be spent on Tube tickets.
Interestingly, the problem with the insane prices wasn't going to London (cheapest: £8.60) but leaving again (cheapest on nearly every possible day £26+). Either the PTB have decided to stop any of the poor people leaving London or, more likely, they've decided that since everyone in London is so used to insane prices they'll pay more for train tickets without batting an eyelid. Getting out for £9.60 does mean catching the 9am train from Euston (it's dawning on me why that might be the cheapest time, with the insanely overcrowded Tube at that time of the morning) but I don't know, maybe we can leave an hour too early and sit in Starbucks or something. Or A can dump me in Starbucks and go back home to bed. ^_^
But YAY! London
kindoftrouble (whose flat-warming present I bought today with much giggling) and A and actually getting away from my parents. Even considering the utter lack of money I have to spend while I'm there isn't too depressing. :) I spent enough in Harrods last time anyway.
Though mmmmmmm, all those signed books in Harrods' Waterstone's. Maybe one trip might be in order. :D
I should probably go do something work-related now since I haven't at all today, but I might just tell my parents that I did something and go play on The Sims instead. It's Friday evening and motivation is just out of the question. Unless it's motivation to build pretty virtual houses.
