I was looking for Annie Lennox's Comic Relief video to Why to link in this post, because it's what finally had me in tears tonight but since it doesn't seem to be around anywhere, I'll link to her site instead and under Video > News there's a video with some of the footage they used in the music vid, with an opening caption along the lines of "Everyone in this film (except Annie) is HIV +... many are now dead". There were a *lot* of little kids in it, not just adults. And I don't even like kids and I was in tears, so that should tell you something.

If I find it, I'll link it but in the meantime take my word for it and go and donate something, anything, to Comic Relief. Because they've given me the Top Gear boys in a band and David Tennant arguing with Catherine Tate over how he isn't qualified to teach English because he's Scottish and Dawn French flirting with Richard Armitage and Sting but, more importantly, because they are doing really good stuff. There's a lot more info on the stuff they do here.

My parents have been watching the funny sketches and the jokes then flipping channels when they "start begging in my dad's words, meaning when they show the films about what Comic Relief are actually doing in Africa and the UK. Their excuse, every time I've said they should donate something, has been to brush it off with the excuse of "having no money."

My dad spends upwards of £650 a year on golf club fees; my mum buys a new handbag whenever she gets bored of her old one - which is every other week. They have absolutely no reason not to go online and donate a tenner or just the amount they spend on wine per week (more than a tenner) but they won't. Because they're too apathic and utterly, totally resistent to the idea that parting with a tiny fraction of the money they throw away every day could actually help someone, somewhere. When it really could and all the people running it have put on an absolutely fantastic show tonight and all this week with the other things they've been doing. I usually dislike making posts like this because what I find worth donating money to isn't always everyone else's idea of a good cause or no one genuinely has any money going spare and if you haven't been sat here watching the various films they've shown all night, you might not see why I think this is worth writing but just think about it. Count up your spare change. Don't buy lunch out tomorrow. Think about how much money you could save by not indulging yourself for a day or a week and donate that. It is worth it.

That's my time on the soap box for tonight. To go with it, I give you my Comic Reliefed Roger icon. I love Comic Relief.

edit: Oh and hi. At home, not dead. Managed to get here eventually despite trains being stupid and me buying stupider not asking for trains to the more sensible place to get a lift home.

Casper totally missed me. Him trying to eat my hand off means nothing. Nothing!
