Anyone else think that somehow having it be just the run-of-the-mill psycho humans kind of misses the point of having a show about *aliens*? If I wanted human psychos, I'd be watching the million and one cop shows out there. Yes it was all well and good having the oh-so-clever "HAH YOU THOUGHT IT WAS ALIENS! SUCKERS!" twist which wasn't really a twist at all after a third of the way through.

Technically I had nothing to complain about; nice camera work this week, love the idea of dumping them as a group in the middle of nowhere and there were some genuinely freaky moments, not to mention the ending was nifty (the beauty is in knowing exactly how badly it's probably going to end. Ah trainwreck plotlines. Never get old.) Yet after all that and sitting through the blood and guts and maggots this show seems to love throwing at us on the faith that it'd prove worthwhile, I can't help feeling oddly... let down. I wanted aliens. Werewolves. Mutant rabbits. Not a bunch of human crackpots that really, were not explained so well.

This was the first week I felt all the technical, setting, acting and 'hide-behind-the-sofa' moments were pretty much spot on, only to be let down by the storyline. So far it's been mostly the other way round -- makes me wonder if it's actually *possible* for them to get everything right in one episode. Sad face. :(

In related news, I've been feeling terrible all morning and was counting on Torchwood to distract me from the nausea. Yeah. That was probably the worst choice of episode ever for that.

edit: I do seem to have been cranky-mccrankypants lately and I apologise. I suck at being ill with fortitude. Besides, isn't the small upside to feeling sucky being to get to whine about it so everyone else feels equally sucky? ;-) Yeah. Spread my pain! Because it's nice to share.

I originally picked a different icon to go with this entry and it somehow ended up being this one... which probably fits better than my original choice. See, the world is trying to help me out in compensation for giving me ouchies. Major ouchies. Ow.
