americans are very bad with money. they tend to spend too much and they do that because people waaaay over-price things and they do that because people are willing to spend the ridiculous amount. why do you think our country owes itself 5 trillion dollars? how do you owe YOURSELF money? i mean seriously. if i owed myself money, i'd say to myself, "self, i've borrowed about $5 trillion from you and frankly, i don't think i'll ever get round to paying that back." and of course, being the kind and giving person i am, i'd say "well, you make a good point, me, $5 trillion is an awful lot. let's just forget about the whole thing and go get some coffee? by the way, since when you you have an english accent?" and i'd laugh and reply "only when explaining things to british people of course! don't be such a chav!" anyways, extremely long internal dialogue aside, we're not very smart people, us americans. but some of us are trying quite hard to be smartly european about things. :)
