Honestly, I thought it was done very well. They could've cut down a few things slightly, Lex was *far* too giddy and despite doing her best, Kate Bosworth just wasn't Lois Lane but they kept fairly faithful to the mythos, they didn't run rampant over Smallville, Brandon Routh hit the exact mix of quietly-smart-dork for Clark and they didn't overplay the son thing too much. I adored the moment when he went to open the door only to have to yanked open before he could because you just don't *know* if he could've done it and far too many films now don't leave anything up to viewer interpretation. Like the scene in the hospital; it could be seen as the kid's super-hearing let him hear her but then, you don't know for certain. And the *cannibal dog* and Lex cleaning his teeth and... I honestly, seriously loved it from start to finish. Maybe because my expectations were so low to start with so the only way was up but I think Bryan Singer is a smart man who knows his superheroes.
You don't have to like it. I still think Kevin and Perry Go Large is the biggest heap of shite to ever see the light of day but other people liked it. *shrugs* Plus, I tend to be biased toward superhero movies. I just love them.
