I just got my -- very empty -- room in Lancaster spotless, clean bathroom, clean desk, clean *everything* with fresh paint on half the walls -- and I got to leave it behind for over three months to come home to, yes, more carnage. Some cruel and twisted person invented this university term system. No drama since I got home yet. Almost threw a tantrum when my giant Central Park poster that I love beyond words -- if you'd given me the choice between it and my Wimbledon ticket, I'd have actually had to *think*. Yeah, that much -- got crumpled beyond repair all up one side (and I wrapped all my posters in about three layers of bags to keep them safe too *woes*) but right about when I could've thrown a tired-and-cranky tantrum, the father was apologetic instead of defensive and I realised I can probably buy a new copy in October from the poster sale guy who comes to campus and yeah, it's £17 but it's not exactly the end of the world.
Still sad though. I loved that poster.
Going to try and sort the internet on the desktop now and it could go horribly wrong so if I disappear until Thursday (when I'll get to Cardiff and have brother's supah fast net, whee) then that's why. We need to sort this wireless network out because my brother installed it back when he was home and none of the rest of us have any real clue how to do *anything* with it. The troubles of having a techie sibling leave his gadgets behind when he moves out.
I miss Lancaster. :(
edit: Oh, and a conversation when I wandered into the lounge to find the Aged Parent watching England vs Ecuador:
Me: *squints at scores* "Go 'Youcadoor!'"
Father: "... It's 'Eck-whi-door'."
Me: "... I knew that."
No comment on the fact Posh looked in serious danger of falling out her top every time she moved. *sighs* I'll stick with watching people crash in the Grand Prix, thanks all the same.
edit: Yay internet! :)
