Apr. 25th, 2006 12:54 pmAAAHHHHH.
There is nothing in the world quite so irritating as reading the first two -- *fantastic* -- parts of a fic only to find the final one hasn't been written and probably never will be considering it hasn't been updated since January and the fic's not really of a length to justify taking months in between parts.* Dammit. Now I have to go back out of guilt and put WiP on everything I haven't finished so people know not to read.
Oh well. I really should be working anyway. Especially since I got an email back from the English supervisor-person today that said basically it's okay that I want to do my dissertation as long as in the proposal everyone has to write in a couple of weeks I can prove that I especially deserve to be allowed to do it. Which means I'll need to do some research and outlining and thinking of a more clearly defined angle. Oh, and it'd help if "I could somehow link it to the creative writing side of my degree", which um. Would kind of make my degree 3/4s creative writing, in a way, and I'm a *combined major*, I'd like to at least do a little English! Also I do have something like four pieces of coursework and an exam to do in the next few weeks but *no*, we have to plan our dissertations for *next year* in the middle of them. Right. Fine. A gold star for the English staff in the common sense department once again.
I like university. Really I do. Just not so much right now.
* Smart comments from anyone at this point will get them hit. Understood?
edit: The flip side is of course finding an old fic you read and loved and forgot all about so re-reading it is like reading it over again, shiny and new. Especially when it's fluff and it makes it impossible to be cranky anymore. The Best Sort of Blame by
casirafics. Ten/Rose with an overload of fluff and perfect Ten characterisation. I should not like Ten/Rose fluff this much because it's *FLUFF* and usually I drown in the fuzzy boredom after the first twenty or so but maybe it's knowing it won't -- and shouldn't, not like in fic anyway -- happen on the show. It's just... nice.
This time I'm really going to do some work.
edit: *blinks* Huh. Weird deja-vu.
Um. I'm working. Really.
