clo_againMy mother's terrible timing aside -- I swear they have a beeper that goes off at home every time I'm *just* about to get in the shower and they instantly rush to phone to call -- I'm quite pleased with the result of the two phone conversations I just had. Not the saga of my 'Crazy Brother in Cardiff's Life', as amusing as it was, but that I just agreed to buy his computer off him.
I know, wtf right? But I've been contemplating buying a new laptop next summer for months and in the last few days I'd sort of started to slide towards thinking that maybe a desktop would be better. Cheaper for one thing and I could leave it on for longer and play games and everything on it on so on. And then my mother happens to drop into the middle of her tirade on the Craziness of my Brother (he's just bought a crossbreed pedigree kitten with his girlfriend. I'm so pleased with him -- I'm going down to Cardiff in two weeks, so I'll get to see her when she's still little and kitten-crazy) that he's selling his computer, I go "Reeeaaaaaally? You have his number?" and the long and short of it is I'll be bringing a shiny computer back from Cardiff with me in a few weeks. It's not new of course and he's not selling the monitor with it so that's extra expense on top but it's still a great computer and it'll all work out cheaper than buying even the cheapest, most basic desktop. Plus it'll play the Sims 2 no problem. :D I've been pining for it all day today, since it's usually what I play when I'm feeling icky.
Downside is that I'll have to reinstall *everything*, including the dumb university internet thing which is fantastic once it's *actually* set up but takes millenia to get right. I'll bring my laptop back with me after Christmas though, so if it all goes wrong then I'll still be able to get online, and then I'll send the laptop off to get the heating thing fixed once the new computer's all set up. Sorted.
All in all, I think it's quite an accomplishment for an evening I'd written off. :)
Oh and my brother hasn't named the kitten yet and wanted suggestions. Any one have any ideas for what to call a black, shorthair pedigree kitten who is a little shy of strangers?
edit: Am being driven to bed by the sleepy but, hopefully, I should feel good enough to fic and catch up and play on Photoshop tomorrow. Oh and do the Creative Writing I didn't do today. Note to self: don't forget.
I can't believe I slept for something like four hours today and I'm still sleepy before 1am. -_-
