It's very uncomfortable, to be made to wonder if your opinion is right because people you respect are arguing the complete opposite. Makes you wonder just how blinkered you might be. Or just how blinkered they might be or whether there is no answer, only opinions. Because it is entirely possible to amicably agree to disagree with someone you respect but it's also possible to piss everybody off by arguing your point. Then again, if people throughout history hadn't argued their point, where would we be now? Compromise what you believe or fight for it and lose friends. Lose-lose situation.
I think I'm sticking with the philosophy of Dogma. Forget beliefs and have ideas. It's much easier to change an idea.
Not to mention ideas probably piss off fewer people.
