I say 'transcriptions' but they're not exact, not to the point where I timed the pauses like they taught us in English. *rolls eyes* I did keep all the 'uh's and 'um's in, plus the repetitions and hesitations. I think it's so much easier to really get the feel of an interview from just the transcription if you know *how* things were said. :) There's Andy's interview, Roger's interview and then a couple of quotes from the interview Roger did with Sky from on-court a few minutes later.
greeniebach, Roger didn't say he was *looking forward* to playing Andy after all - sort of the opposite, I didn't remember exactly what he'd said - but he did say he hoped they were on opposite sides of the draw at the U.S. Open, so they wouldn't meet until the final. It's very slashy still. :)
Andy post-match interview
Q: Andy, congratulations on a great week and a very tough final. First and foremost - how're you doing?
Andy: I'm doing okay, I hope, um. I only felt uh, something in my foot at about five all in the second set, so he was already kicking my butt before that but um... *laughter from Q & crowd* Uh, I- I don't really know what to tell you right now, I'm gonna go off and get it looked at and uh, hopefully I'll be okay come uh, come New York city.
Q: You know it was a pretty good final. You had some looks, you had a break point chance in the first set, you broke in the second, it was shaping up to be something pretty good.
Andy: Yeah it... was. *laughter from everyone* Uh, and then Roger started being Roger again, yadda yadda yadda, super. *laughter from crowd, Q, and Roger*
Q: He does that on Sundays a lot doesn't he?
Andy: Um, no but then uh- then uh, in all seriousness he's a great champion and he carries himself even uh, even better off the court which is a- it's a real uh, credit to our sport so congratulations. *applause from crowd*
Q: Any people in particular you want to thank here? You're so well liked.
Andy: Yeah absolutely, um, I- I have a hard time remembering uh, a place where I've gotten more crowd support, uh. You guys have really helped me through a couple of matches this week. *cheers and applause from crowd* So, uh, so thank you very much. I actually have uh, a bunch of family here as well, extended family, so thank you for making the drive. My dad's birthday was this week so he, he's about a hundred and seventy three years old now. *laughter from the crowd & Q* Uh...
Q: And you've aged him again today!
Andy: Yeah, and now he's a hundred and eighty six after today, so. Thanks a lot, uh, I love you guys, thanks for coming.
Q: Alright. Ladies and gentlemen, Andy Roddick. *applause*
Roger post-match interview
Q: Congratulations Roger. You've played Cincinnati a couple of times, never won [the trophy] though. What happened this week?
Roger: Yeah, I really don't know this place, so, I mean uh... *laughter from Q and crowd* Uh, I've been first and second rounds my whole life here and now suddenly I win the tournament, so, no. It's fantastic, it's a bit of a surprise because I haven't played since Wimbledon, but uh, really started to play fantastic tena- tennis, um... Specially in the semis and finals I thought, so, really really happy to be back and looking forward to the Open now.
Q: Roger, not too many players would be willing to take off six weeks in the middle of the summer and yet you were able to do that. That's pretty impressive stuff, especially against Andy who's such a tough hard court player.
Roger: Yeah, I've got to get away from these people a little bit you know, from the tour. *laughter from everyone* Players and media and photographers and everybody, no. Um... it- it was good to be away but it's also very nice to be back, so uh-
Andy [from off-camera]: Stay away longer.
Roger: Yeah. *smiling* Next time I'll stay away a little longer. *Andy nods enthusiastically, tongue sticking out* No uh, it was great, great uh, great place to play tennis. It was a great final against Andy, I always enjoy, especially playing in America against him, but he's really a fair, fair play and I really enjoyed every time, not, not just because I win. *cheers & whistles from the crowd, Andy turns away to laugh and Roger pats his shoulder sympathetically, laughing*
Q: *smiling* You know, you might have to play him in a couple of weeks for the U.S. Open. *Roger's laughing too hard and she has to repeat the question* You might have to play him again sometime soon, how do you feel about that? How do you like your form, going into the U.S. Open?
Roger: Well obviously I'm happy, but uh, U.S. Open is,is different. Best of five sets every match and uh, yeah I hope [Andy's] in the other side of the draw so, earliest we could meet is in the final.
Q: I know you like playing him, you really do. You seem to have a lot of respect for each other.
Roger: We- we have a lot of respect but uh, yeah, I'm a little worried about his serve you know. *Q giggles, laughter from the crowd* So you never know what's coming, so, no, It was good finals. *laughs*
Q: Anyone you'd like to thank here?
Roger: Yeah! Everybody. Uh. *laughter from him & crowd* Uh, no I mean obviously there's a lot of people doing great work behind the scenes who are not on the- on this court right now, and of course without the sponsors it's not possible. Great stadium, great fans, thanks for coming out. Ballboys. My team in the back, you know, is only two people, my- my physio and my lovely girlfriend so thanks to them as well for being here with me this week and uh, see you next year. Thank you.
Q: If they'll have you back! Ladies and gentlemen, your 2005 Western and Southern Financial Group Masters Champion, Roger Federer.

A couple of highlights from Roger's interview with Sky after the match
On saving the first break point in the early first set: "Oh that was crucial, I think, um because I really had the feeling [Andy] was really pumped up and you know, hitting his- his serve harder than ever, I had the feeling, so I knew he was going to take chances today. And you know, he's a great front runner too and uh, usually in the second set you know, he shouldn't allow me to come back, he was up thirty-love and serves four first serves and I still end up winning all four points you know, that's also kind of- kind of a surprise but, it just happens you know. But uh, there were some crucial points and they all went my way so, uh, yeah that was a big match for me today."
Q: You think you're in [Andy's] head Roger, right now?
Roger: If I'm what?
Q: If you're in his head, are you- do you really think he believes he can take you out there? Do you think you're messing with his brain?
Roger: Well it's hard for him, you have to understand that too, um. He's lost so many times now against me, in a row. Plus big matches too you know, like finals in Wimbledon twice and one semis. Last year in Toronto. Bangkok, final. He's lost many big matches against me, so, it's not- not easy for him too, but I really believe every time he steps out on court against me, he believes in his chance and that is what champions do, and h-he is definitely one of them.
~~~
I personally think they're adorable about each other. Now if Andy could just start *winning* a few matches... But until then, I guess hearing Roger giggle into the mic after each win isn't so bad. :) My commentators joked about although their rivalry on the tennis court is one-sided, they now have a rivalry going to see who can give the best post-match interview. ^__^ Andy's winning that one I think.
I also finally caught the episode of Punk'd with Andy in it, so I got to watch it on the big TV. *giggles* Poor Andy. He didn't get mad, he got sarcastic. It was so cute, though he should probably be glad that wasn't a real police officer he was snarking at. *grins*
Okay, I'm off to move the laptop to a cooler room now. -_- My bedroom is way too hot tonight.
