Major shock when I turned on the news this morning. Been staring in blank disbelief for about an hour. Yesterday everything seemed to be going so well and we had the Olympics and...

... and knowing that less than two weeks ago I was sitting on that Tube going through those same tunnels makes it worse. If that's even possible.

The only tiny glimmer of a positive the news is giving is that the aim seems to have been to shut the London transport network down rather than causing maximum casualties but I still can't understand how anyone would want to do this. What, do you have something against people talking about ending poverty? You're too wrapped up in your own self-pity to care that the world's going to heat up and your children and grandchildren are going to slowly cook to death in a giant greenhouse if the G8 Summit doesn't reach a decision? Do you really think that you're that damn important, that the world should be listening to you when you're sitting in your high chair, waving the little explosive toys you're so proud of and screaming "Me me me me!!"? Yeah? Really?

Then get a fucking shrink like any normal person. You need to deal with your pathetic little narcissistic issues.

Really not much else to say, except this scares me but also makes me so mad I can't think straight. Selfish, pathetic bastards.

*snuggles tightly back* Definitely ok. We were planning on visiting London several times this summer but I think those plans aren't going to happen.

Exactly - people need to wake up and actually think about what they're doing - I don't get how anyone could protest the G8 Summit when they're trying to *help* the world. I'm at a loss to explain how anyone could think this was the right thing to do.

*snuggles back some more just to cling to something*

*snuggles you* It is really scary. *snuggles you more*

This morning is scarily like September 11th to me because both times I woke up to hear the news and all the major channels are talking only about it. Except this time it's in the middle of summer and I'm not in school.

I'm glad you're okay. I just hope all of my friends' families living there are okay too. *bites nails* I don't really know what to say... It's just shocking.

*hugs you*

So many of my f-list (+ my sister) are in the UK and I worry about each and every one of you, so nice to know you are ok. *snuggles in close*

It's such a horrible thing to happen, and no one seems to know what is going on or who is responsible. I guess for the moment dealing with the casualties is the first priority, and blame and repercussions can occur later.

The one good thing with regards to my friends is that there's cricket on today in Headingly, so I know most of my cricket friends are safe in Leeds. Thank God this didn't happen during Wimbledon or we'd all be freaking out even more :S

So glad to know you're okay. *Hugs you tightly, still shocked*

I was wondering if it was the G8 summit or the Olympics?

Either way, this news freaked me out when I woke up. I'm just glad all my friends over in the UK seem to be okay. Pretty sure I've heard from them all now.

*snuggles* People are so fucked up, and fucking George W pisses me off. *snuggles more*

...I don't think that should stop you. I honestly don't. The shock will pass. It sounds awful now, but it will.

*hugs*

I know. I was just planning on going down with a couple of friends and I can't see the 'rents letting us go. *sighs* I know what you mean though - I'll be back down there again for Wimbledon next summer and no doubt travelling by Tube.

*hugs back*

*snuggles back* It is.

September 11th was completely different for me, since I came home from school to it. At least it seems this isn't on the same scale as New York, as bad as it is.

Yeah, I'm glad that people I know are okay. *hugs* Hope you hear good news about everyone you know there soon.

It's really one of those things you can't say much about, because it's so unbelievable. :(

It's very good to hear when people are okay. There were a few nervous moments this morning until we heard from all our family & friends down there but everyone seems okay. *snuggles closer*

*nods* London seems to have spent the day concentrating on dealing with the casualties and problems due to the complete lack of transport first, so hopefully now they've dealt with a lot of that, they're starting to look at the evidence and everything. *sighs* I hope they catch someone.

I can't even imagine what we'd have been like had this happened during Wimbledon. I don't even want to think about it. :-/ At least your friends are okay.

Definitely okay. *hugs tightly back*

*snuggles back* It really is. I don't understand what they were thinking or what they wanted. It makes no sense... and once again brings me back to my theory that organised religion is a deadly weapon in the hands of extremists. *sighs* At leas seeing the wonderful resilience of the Londoners is helping me keep my faith in our species.

Am really okay. *snuggles back*

True that. I had some friends whose parents didn't want them to come up from Philadelphia to go to New York a few months after 9/11, which resulted in me being very pissed because I couldn't go to the event by myself and wound up having to get a ride from my parents, meanwhile I'm all "ARRRRRRRGH ITS JUST NEW YORK! ITS JUST THE SUBWAY!!! THEY DIDN'T EVEN ATTACK THE SUBWAY!!!"

I'm leaning towards the G8 summit - mainly because I can't see a motive in protesting or bombing due to the Olympics, especially since it isn't even happening for another seven years. But they may have waited until it was announced I suppose - just because the mood was so happy and no one was expecting anything. *sighs*

It was a very freaky thing to turn on the TV to this morning. Hearing from everyone I know down in London and knowing they're okay has helped.

*snuggles back* They really are... though there's some amazing responses coming defiantly out from London and the country as a whole right now. One of the headlines in the newspapers tomorrow reads simply, in huge letters, "BASTARDS". I am very proud of my country right now. George W on the other hand, I have nothing good to say about. (Did you know he put a policeman in hospital yesterday by colliding with the poor guy when riding a bike? *sighs*)

*snuggles back more* Glad everyone's checking in. It makes me feel better. :)

But wasn't the G8 summit being held up north somewhere? It could be anything, and we'll probably never truly know.

That's good that they're all okay.

*snuggles* I like your country. I may move there. *ponders* Nah, I'm moving to Canada for sure. :-) Why am I not surprised that W did something that stupid? He's an idiot and needs to be taken out of office. *sighs with you*

*snuggles even more* I know what you mean. My first thoughts when I heard about it were, where exactly are my friends again?

Yes, it's way up in Edinburgh at the other end of the country but... I'm thinking that maybe, because so much security was focused up there, no one was looking hard enough at London. *sighs* You're right, we'll probably never know for sure.

*nods* It is very good to hear.

My country has impressed me greatly today. *hugs it* Doesn't mean I'm not considering moving to Canada too. :) It seems an awesome country. George W is... there are no words. I'm still baffled as to how he got re-elected. *sighs*

*snuggles back even more* It's good to hear everyone checking in okay. And even better to see how wonderful LJ is at keeping everyone connected and updated during things like this.

I thought so. Hmmm... sad but true.

*hugs your country and Canada* Why does everyone else have the cool countries and I'm stuck with the US?

*snuggles back harder* LJ is definitely a blessing at moments like these.

*sighs* I know they're just worried but... parents really need to think these things through.

My 'rents were twitchy enough about me going down to Wimbledon though, and [livejournal.com profile] wolves8's were even worse. Don't think we've got a chance this summer. *sighs again*

*nods* :(

Well, my country isn't cool all the time. We pretty much sucked when Tony Blair sided with W over Iraq. I think it's [livejournal.com profile] liroa15 we should be jealous of, getting to be Canadian. *sighs*

*snuggles back just as hard* It really is.

True. You guys do have the mini W over there in Blair. :-P I agree. And Merc & Impy 'cause they're Australian. *nods*
