I decided I needed an obsession to get me through the next three weeks and, since he's already halfway there, that obsession might as well be John Simm. I just bought The Lakes and Human Traffic (except it was secondhand off Amazon and now I'm wondering if it's the special edition and could I buy that too because I feel bad cancelling on someone), and State of Play is promising more rewards if my day tomorrow is awful. I figured eh, I can always resell them if I hate them. But in the meantime: John Simm.

I'm clearly delusional, having just spent money I want to save at 1am when I know better. Screw common sense. I need the happy more.

I did not see new Torchwood tonight, because the father was watching football (-_- no comment) and then I was busy spending my savings. Tomorrow shall be a night of LoM and TW Cheeseburger Thursday Awesome. Oh, and the Sarah Connor Chronicles too, which I recorded on a whim and haven't watched yet.

Now I really need sleep. >_< Before I buy anything else.

edit: In the cold light of morning: Um. I should be banned from shopping on the interweb after bad days. I've neither seen nor heard anything about the dvds I just spent almost £20 on. *facepalm* At least I checked they weren't reselling for 99p on Amazon first; not liking them isn't the end of the world.

I must've been drunk on no sleep. Sigh.

PROCESS THE DAMN CARD DETAILS HMV.COM DAMN YOUS.

I did not just spend more money on DVDs. DVDs I haven't seen, something which I never do. Christ on a bike. I really hope I get that week's worth of dole money to almost-cover it all.

Okay seriously hmv. Am not amused now. Process! Process faster!

I don't even have an excuse because today was so much better in work. Spent an hour on and off the phone to IT to sort out my account and an hour this morning idly working out my time sheet because everyone was late and then no one told me to do anything and then I spent a happy couple of hours futzing with the printers to get them to print double-sided the right way, among other things that Were Not Typing Repetitive Details All Day. And the nice woman who's been showing me everything keeps finding other things for me to do than Borng Details, because she says it's awful to have to do that all day (honestly? Understatement).

So. I have no excuse for spending almost £30 on DVDs. In the last *day*. Add the previous four days and that goes up to like- £56. Christ on a bike. I have to resell a couple of these after I'm done watching them. Seriously. Unless they're like, super-awesome and then I'll just have to buy less in London.

HMV I'M NOT JOKING NOW. *stabbity*

Roll on my four-day weekend! Huzzah!

I have a mysterious credit of £33.47 to my bank account. It's entirely possible that the dole have paid me enough to cover the almost-week since I signed on and just didn't bother to explain to me about this.

If this is the case, the government just paid for all those DVDs I bought in the last twenty-hours and it only cost me a slightly tedious phone call and half an hour of my day sitting in the job centre. Words cannot express my joy. It technically amounts to free DVDs.

And now I have cheeseburgers on the horizon - being made for me, because I work now - and then I wait until the 'rents are in bed, make myself a huge bowl of salted popcorn, and watch back to back Torchwood, Life on Mars and Sarah Connor Chronicles. Not necessarily in that order.

This is why I love Cheeseburger Thursdays. All the awesome of the week gets stored up and splashed out in a great waterfall of splendifiosity*.

*it is my new Cheeseburger Thursday word. Because it is just that much better than splendid.
