Sep. 21st, 2007 02:26 pmFound ad for photographer in auction house job. Wrote cover letter in which I did not even lie hardly at all. Tweaked CV a little. Emailed it off.
Find it somewhat hilarious that I'm more nervous about sending an email than I was about my entire tour&interview thing around Marks and Spencers Money last night, which I pretty much giggled my way through. It's inside this massive new building, with water features and a cafe and shop, like a town only with big glass windows looking into call-centre-type-offices instead of shops. Like an entire town dedicated to M&S. Even all the advertisements were for M&S related things.
The guy on the tour with me observed it was like Marks and Spencer World. It really was. It was hilarious, in a 'I will drown myself in the water feature if I have to work here' way.
Theybrainwashed showed us a promotional DVD. And told us we had to come in with the right attitude and want to sell people crap insurance policies that add nothing to the world all these wonderful things. And asked me if there was ever a situation in my past jobs where the customer was disappointed and how did that make me feel?
It was- surreal. Hilarious but surreal. And made me really, really not want to work there. Also, my interviewer told me I sound American/Canadian. I mumbled something about having lots of American/Canadian friends (she doesn't know I only talk to y'all through the internet) and not the truth of "I WATCH WAY TOO MUCH AMERICAN TV." Damn Grey's Anatomy.
Anyway. Make that three jobs I've applied for this week, one of which I want to do, one of which I wouldn't mind doing and one that I would rather eat live cockroaches than do. Okay, maybe not cockroaches. But almost.
Now I get to go try and spot
kindoftrouble at the tennis on the TV and then to buy hamster toys. Yay!
