Sigh.

Why am I up before 10am, on a Saturday, after not sleeping at all between Wednesday and Friday? The woman reminded me last night that she's coming up to visit. >_< Which involved some frantic room-tidying and bathroom-cleaning last night. Hey, at least it made me hoover my floor for the first time in about four weeks.

Lancaster weather has turned out for the occasion and after being unnaturally hot for about two weeks it's... raining. Since I've been promising myself all week -- with all the people sitting outside on the grass and setting up paddling pools while I was hunched in front of the computer all day -- that I could get to sit outside and be lazy as soon as I finished the work? Have concluded that Lancaster weather hates me or possibly all people in general.

Wanttogobacktobedomg. >_< Least I should be getting a lift to ASDA to restock on food which will be all manner of awesome now my fridge is empty. Vaguely nervous about her driving the man's car through the notorious mindfuck that is Lancaster's one way system. He's in Texas for the next few days which is probably the only reason he hasn't talked her out of the whole idea but... it's a big car. Though! At least the rain will keep people away and it shouldn't be as busy as a usual Saturday.

Google proving useless and this has been bugging me all morning: there's an animated film, can't remember if it's recent or old but I've seen it or bits of it recently enough for me to guess recent, that has a Komodo dragon character in it--

And in typing that I just remembered it's Fern Gully. I've been trying to remember that without resorting to LJ all morning.

Oh wow.

Last year, I spent the entire week leading up to Dalek going nuts. Every so often I'd randomly pause and squee "DALEKSTHISWEEKOMG!" Everyone thought I was going mad but I got so excited and crazy. And yet, even though I have more childhood memories of old Cybermen episodes of Doctor Who -- that one where all the Cybermen are in little compartments like a giant honeycomb and then they break their way out through the plastic? Gave me nightmares -- I just haven't been as excited this week. Whether because I was working hard or not letting myself so much as think of Doctor Who until my work was finished and then today I've had the woman here all day so I haven't had time to squee but--

-- I just totally had a revert-to-my-childhood forty-five minutes. I had no idea I loved the Cybermen this much. Oh my god.

EDIT: Oh, lossi I got the whole episode again so did you want me to split and upload like last week? Or are you getting it somewhere faster?

edit: Oh and while I'm at it, anyone got any good programs for shrinking down video sizes a bit, preferably without massive loss of quality along the way? This whole new record-TV-to-my-computer thing is just shiny but it's .mpg and the files are huge. Even shaving a couple of hundred MB off them would help but I've got no idea where to start.
