I couldn't decide what to do for October and using new pictures plus finding fun designs every time is getting harder. So October turned out pretty basic and even *then* I still couldn't decide...

October Calendar pic... unless I come up with something better )

I'm going to disappear for a while now - if I want to fic, the 'net is too distracting so I'm going to disconnect myself until I have fic to post. I *will* post fic tonight if it kills me dammit.

See you later...

WE HAVE SNOW!!!! *glee*
clo_again: (sleep when you're dead)
... no really. Well, actually not. But the way my day is going right now, there could be.

I promised you all tennis slash didn't I? And I dutifully went away and wrote tennis slash. Until 5:30am with only a few brief breaks to squee at the snow showers. And it's one I've been meaning to write for ages and post, so I was proud of myself (though not quite as proud as if I'd actually finished [livejournal.com profile] mercury32's Christmas fic which is giving me all kinds of trouble). I edited it, I spellchecked it, I plugged the Internet back in to post it...

... Did it work? LIKE HELL IT DID.

*sulks*

I tried everything to fix it, but it wasn't my connection, it was the university network. By this point it was 6:13am and I was just too frustrated to do anything, so I went to bed, planning to sleep until about 2pm (lectures at 3), come back and sort the net out tonight.

11:33am. Phone rings. I stupidly wake up and answer it. The woman asks for Kirsty which suggests I've been woken up by a wrong number in which case heads will roll, Sleepy Hollow style. But no, she wants to talk to me too - it's the woman from the office and I forgot to fill in a form last week. Can I come down and fill it in RIGHT NOW?

So I get dressed. Go outside in the rain and gale-force winds to complete a form in about three seconds. Come back through the wind and rain. Realise that going back to sleep is utterly pointless and the one tiny bright spark of the day so far is that the net has decided, inexplicably to work again.

I'm not really having a terrible day - the snow last night put me in a good mood for the rest of the month - but I know I'm going to be utterly exhausted tonight. Why did that woman choose today of all days to ring?

*sulks*

BUT. On the plus side - I have fic. Which will be posted in a separate post so it doesn't get lost amidst my complaining in this one. And it's smut again which I apologise for because I really should start writing fic with a point again, but this was the first in the series and smut to start was needed for angst later on. *nods* Really.

*cries* I was sleeping so comfortably too. *sighs* Ah well. All's fair in fic and sleep I suppose.

Onwards to fic!

Title: Play Suspended (The Pretty Close to Invincible series, 1/?)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Roddick/Federer
Summary: Frustration and tension are wearing down on the two top seeds during the Wimbledon final. (‘Takes place’ during the first rain break in the first set.)
Notes: This fic - well not exactly this fic, I rewrote the entire thing because it showed just how bad my tennis knowledge was at the time - was the very first tennis slash fic I wrote, begun halfway through the 2004 Wimbledon final it's centered around. I remember having to check the scoreboard to see how you spelt 'Federer' and if 'Roddick' had two d's or one. This series occupied me all last summer and this is the first part, rewritten and finally posted, over six months after it was written. The rest of the series should be following soon, especially since I wrote all the way up to the sixth part before abandoning it until I'd rewritten each one. This fic also inspired the title for Play Suspended.

Disclaimer: Own nothing, no one and this never happened - as far as I know both Andy and Roger were innocently occupied with other things during that first rain break. This is just me having fun with what could have happened.

“You know, I proved that Roger's not quite invincible. You know, he's pretty close (smiling).” Andy Roddick, post-Wimbledon 2004 final.

Play Suspended )

I'm going to stop using Italics in fic. I hate them. Ggrrr. But the next part should be showing up sometime soon, once it's rewritten.
