Guten morgen!
Sep. 18th, 2004 08:47 amAm still alive! Have not yet been eaten by the cows, though it's been a close call once or twice. Did I mention this country really loves it's cows? They dress them up every so often and everything. Am starting to think the Welsh and their sheep are quite normal.
Have been busybusybusy this week, having walked up mountains, taken photos of mountains, been driven up - and down - mountains... yeah. There's been a lot of mountains. ^__^ Good thing I love mountains eh? Went up Grossglockner (highest mountain in Austria) yesterday in the fog and mist and rain... and my body decided to feel ill as we were coming down the 32 hairpin bends. So that was an uncomfortable experience. Of course by the time we'd reached the nice flat ground and Ibuprofen, I was feeling better. Figures.
Went to Salzburg Tuesday; is pretty and full of horse-drawn carriages and little Japanese men balancing huge towers of wine glasses on their noses. And then playing nursery rhymes on a clarinet... complete with balanced wine glasses. Seriously. I was much impressed. Also met a guy painted silver doing funny faces and mimicking the crowd. He kissed my hand when I gave him a euro. *blushes*
Monday... we climbed down the Kitzbulerhorn, the mountain behind our hotel. We caught the gondolas and cable car up - which was nerve-wracking but fun ;-) - and walked the three or so hours it took to get halfway down again. Our legs have only just recovered this morning.
I watched the Federer vs. Hewitt match on Sunday. Suffice to say I'm now a little afraid of Roger. No one should be able to win a US Open final that easily. Slightly spooky. If I was Andy Roddick I'd be very afraid.
I'm gonna have to run; time is money. I'll be back home Saturday lunchtime so if you've commented, emailed etc I probably wouldn't expect a reply till sometime Sunday. ;-)
Arrivederla! No wait... that's Italian....
