They do that with the True Blood books over here too! It's really irritating because a lot of the titles are similar and even though I looked up which was the first so I'd know when I saw it, I still find myself looking at a shelf full of them going "...Er." I suspect I've actually passed over the first one a few times without realising (another reason why this 'be obscure on book covers!' schtick is stupid from people who're trying to sell books). And definitely; you don't always want to ask or the salesperson might not know the series (when I worked in Waterstone's we'd check Amazon for help too though ^__^).
YES. All books need a list with the recommended reading order if there's more than one related book. It shouldn't be an issue wtf!
